Who I am
My name is Marissa Honeycutt and I’m a published indie author and self-taught book formatter, graphics and trailer maker. I published my first book in 2014 and have released twelve books.
From the very beginning of my foray into the indie publishing world, I’ve sought to learn all I could about design. I started simply, working in Microsoft Word and Publisher. As I had time (and money) I started learning the abundant, amazing, and non-intuitive Adobe programs. Photoshop and InDesign are my main specialties, along with Premier Pro and After Effects for book trailers. I also work in Vellum, primarily for ebooks (though the program does a very nice paperback, too) since I like the complete control InDesign gives me for designing paperbacks.
I want every indie author to have a chance to succeed. Unfortunately, the old adage “Don’t judge a book by its cover” isn’t true. People do judge you by your covers, your graphics, and other things you put out there. A professional presence is incredibly important to your success.
Let me help you succeed!
Side Note: Starting out as an author is tough; mentally, emotionally, and financially. If you want to work with me, but are struggling to find the finances, reach out to me. I was new once and I remember what it was like. I had a lot of people help me out and I’ll help you, too.
For examples of my work, check out "My Books" on my website (which I designed!). Click "Learn More" under a book you're interested in and you'll see the teasers and trailers at the bottom of each page. All teasers and graphics (except book covers) were designed by me.
If you have any questions, fill out this form and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
